Introduction : Raspberry Pi

Raspberry-Pi is a single board microcontroller with 32 bit memory. It is fully computer using BCM2835 SoC ARM Processor running at 700 MHz’s. Systems on chip include a video controller with a hardware mp4 encoder/decoder, a CPU, an Ethernet controller and a USB Controller. For memory storage SD card is utilized because RAM for revision board A is 256M and RAM for current revision board is 512M. Usually Linux version is used on boards which are simply connected using a keyboard and mouse to computer screen for monitoring. It has 8 GP I/O pins, UART, I2C, SPI and I2S for I/O programming. What is the purpose of Arduino Board and Raspberry Pi board?

  • The main purpose of Arduino board is that it reacts to sensors and devices that further helps in projects for interfacing and reacting to various sensors for accurate readings. Arduino handles the actuation of devices and gathers data from the sensors.
  • Raspberry pi Board for projects count reasonable charges and cover all computer functions on a single board. It’s compatible to LINUX version which is usually being utilized in raspberry pi projects.

  1. Sensors: Arduino has various interfacing ports, so it’s easy to connect analog sensors to arduino board. Sensors react eventually according to programming set in microcontrollers. Even if the power drops on the arduino, system won’t show corrupt operating system neither it will stop the code processes. It will easily start running code when plugged in again.Raspberry pi requires more power supply with additional hardware in order to move with constant power needed. It works on 5V power supply and works like a traditional computer.
  3. Network: The Pi has a built-in Ethernet port, which allows easy access to any network with little setup. Wireless Internet on the Pi isn’t hard to achieve either, you just have to buy a USB Wi-Fi dongle and install a driver. Once you’re connected, you can use the OS to connect to Web servers, process HTML, or post to the Internet. You can even use it as a VPN or print server.Unfortunately, the Arduino isn’t built for network connectivity directly. You’ll need an extra chip prepared with an Ethernet port, and you’ll need to do some wiring and coding in order to get everything up and running which is enough of a process that some vendors sell comparable versions of the Arduino with built-in Ethernet.

When to use raspberry pi?

It’s a good choice when device is constantly running and requires little communication. Its main task is to read sensor data and change sensor data and values on motors. Operations in raspberry pi are easily managed whether connected to internet to read and write data, monitor any media or connect to an external display.
