In 1920's, deficiency of mica led to the discovery of ceramic capacitors which was used as dielectric. Since that time, Paraelectric titanium dioxide was used as the first type of ceramic dielectric because it had linear temperature dependence which replaced mica capacitors. A ceramic capacitor is composed of ceramic material which acts as a dielectric. Its architecture depicts tow or more alternating layers of ceramic and a metal layer acting as the electrodes. It's also classified into two classes- class 1 and class 2. Class 1 ceramic capacitors are reliable and offer high stability. It has low losses in resonant circuits applications whereas class 2 offers high volumetric efficiency for buffer, by-pass and coupling applications.

Ceramic capacitors are of various shapes and sizes particularly used in electronic equipments and used as capacitors for RFI/EMI control as feed through capacitors and also as power capacitors for transmitters. According to its construction, its composition is mixture of ground granules when mixed with other materials to meet targeted result. There are few ceramic capacitors with shape and size which comprise of multilayer ceramic chip capacitor, ceramic disc capacitor and feed through ceramic capacitor.
